Architects of tomorrow
THANKS TO THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF OUR LEADERCAST/CBCHR SPONSORS AND OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE HAMPTON ROADS ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS, WE WERE ABLE TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS TO DESERVING YOUNG PEOPLE IN HAMPTON ROADS!
The mission of the CBCHR is to develop Christian business leaders to claim the marketplace for Christ by encouraging and equipping them to fulfill their God-given purpose. In partnership with the Hampton Roads Association of Christian Schools (HRACS), an association of Biblically-based, evangelical Christian Schools in the Hampton Roads committed to promote Christian education and foster cooperation among Christian schools and educators, we developed a Leadership Scholarship Program.
This program served as a vehicle for the CBCHR to develop young Christian entrepreneurs into the business leaders of tomorrow and to give back to the community in a way that has a positive impact on a select group of young people. Applicants were asked to write an essay about the integration of their faith into their work in the marketplace. These essays were evaluated by an independent panel of judges, Paul Martin, Dr. David Abbott and Dr. Joe Bucci. Additionally, applicants were ranked against other applicants in the areas of GPA, extracurricular activities where they demonstrated excellence in leadership and through two letters of recommendation by teachers or coaches. This year we had four applicants successfully complete all the requirements of the program.
The program created an opportunity for high school seniors with a strong Christian faith who want to pursue their education beyond high school to compete for a monetary prize to offset some educational expenses and for admission to the CBCHR Signature Event, Leadercast/CBCHR 2016.
Leadercast is the #1 largest one-day leadership event in the US. Leadercast is the brand that builds leaders worth following, existing to serve individuals and organizations across all sectors who want to become intentional about raising their standard of leadership.
As stewards of this resources allocated to us, the CBCHR decided to fund this scholarship program as a way of giving back to the community in a way that is tied to our mission and purpose. The top scholarship was presented by the Spire level event sponsor of Leadercast/CBCHR 2016 during the day’s events on May 6, 2016
The 2016 theme for Leadercast was “Architects of Tomorrow” and we were proud to be able to poor into these deserving young people who participated in the competition for the scholarships.
The winners of the scholarships were:
Lauren Norquist, Atlantic Shores - $2000
Richard Fortune, Jr., Greenbrier Christian - $1000
Olivia O'Neal, Atlantic Shores - $1000
Emily Van Dorn, Suffolk Christian -$1000
Congratulations to our Winners!
We also want to thank Paul Martin, Dr. David Abbott and Dr. Joe Bucci for serving as the grading and selection committee for this program.
